“Beyond the Sky” by Ghulam 'Sakhi' Hazara

Sakhi was born in Afghanistan and came to Australia as a refugee in 2000 to escape war and persecution. Since arriving in Australia, and after 15 months in Port Hedland Detention Centre, Sakhi’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Using a variety of mediums, he creates evocative art through which he expresses his life and experiences. His work combines Surrealism, symbolism and realism, in a style he has named ‘Hazaraism’.
